What are your specialties?
SOMAWAIRUA is body and spirit entwined Tia is a trained Somatic Dance teacher, an avid 5 rhythms dancer, a rongoa practitioner, a lover of movement and a passionate advocate for embodiment. She is an alchemist who weaves spirit (wairua) and bodies (tinana) with potent soundscapes, bringing her participants deeply into their bodies to awaken, dismantle and integrate many facets and threads of self.
She has worked for many years with nature and its cycles for health and wellness... and now she brings awareness to OUR BODIES as the most potent tool for healing and transformation. This is mirimiri (body work) on a deep level. Tia has a unique set of life experiences which means she has the capacity to hold safe, grounded, and wise containers. Tia guides you to navigate your inner landscape, through clear connection to her tupuna (ancestors), connection to nature, connection to source and a potent ability to sense energetic shifts, frequencies and knowing of what is arising for the participants.
Using karakia, linking you to te taiao (our natural world), te whare tapa wha - the four walls (mind--hinengaro, body-tinana, spirit-wairua family/relationships--whanau) she creates a safe space for you to thrive within. With the embodied and intuitive guidance that she receives, she is able to create a space where people are able to access their own healing and transformations.
Tia's group classes, one on one sessions and retreats are a transformational journey, taking you to the depths of your body/soma/tinana and into a place where powerful medicine is stored for your own re-calibration, balance and becoming. Tia has always danced through life, using music and sound to evoke emotions and to process all of lifes waves and fluctuations, she was using dance/movement and the body as medicine long before it was called a thing.
Tia is thoroughly interwoven with the natural world and this comes through in all of her work from her energetic rongoa, physical rongoa, mirimiri and all the other ways that she holds space for you to hear, feel and experience yourself as nature, as your full natural well self. Eco-somatics is a passion for Tia, when her participants are able to experience themselves AS the awa/river, AS the maunga/mountains, AS the moana/ocean, AS the ngahere/forest, .... this is where we find the true power to reshape and heal ourselves.
